Acworth CKD’s family program is a wonderful way for the entire family to participate in an activity that has life long benefits.
Training with the family allows parents and children to set goals and then learn and progress together.
It helps parents to experience, first hand, what their children are learning and participate in their accomplishments. It also empowers children to help their parent acquire new and exciting skills.
Some additional benefits of Choi Kwang Do for families are:
- Increased unity within the family
- Increased mutual respect among family members
- Unified family goal setting
- Increased encouragement to achieve goals
- Increased accountability to achieve goals
- Increased quality time spent together
I can not emphasize enough what a blessing it has been for our entire family to train together and achieve common goals. We all have our own strengths and weaknesses which allows us to also help each other out. Choi Kwang Do is the ultimate family activity!
CKD has been designed to be a martial art for life
Our adult program emphasizes overall improvement in health, flexibility, self-defense, as well as personal success and achievement of goals. We offer adults the ability to learn techniques that have physical, emotional, as personal growth benefits.
All of the techniques have been designed, with input from the medical community, to ensure the safety of the art. The techniques do not twist or lock joints, as in many other martial arts, so potential damage to your body is greatly decreased. By using full body sequential motion, CKD techniques have been proven to be much stronger than other martial arts that do not use full body sequential motion or follow through. When techniques are practiced in this manner, the muscles in your body creates muscle memory so that if you were to ever need to defend yourself, your body already knows what to do and can more effectively defend yourself. Martial Arts that focus on competition are tend to train for "points" versus for defense. No matter what age, CKD does not compare students to one another, rather personal improvement is the focus. CKD is beneficial for all ages.
Some additional benefits of Choi Kwang Do for adults are:
- Increased energy and overall health
- Increased self-defense skills
- Increased self-confidence
- Increased flexibility
- Increased stress management
- Increased strength
- Increased leadership skills
- Increased focus
Adults not only enjoy Choi Kwang Do to increase their overall health and fitness, they are thrilled with the ability to train at their own pace in a safe, friendly, supportive, family atmosphere.
At Acworth Choi Kwang Do, we believe that training in self-defense should be an important part of everyone’s lives, but especially teen girls and women's lives.
We offer introductory Self-Defense Seminars that give basic self-defense information and tactics, but firmly believe that the more training you receive and the more often techniques are practiced, the better outcome an individual will have if they need to physically defend themselves.
With this fact in mind, we have developed a special program just for teen and adult women that focuses on Self-Defense, but also allows for the other benefits of optimum health and personal growth that Choi Kwang Do offers. In this program, we will educate you safety and defending yourself, equip you with the techniques to defend yourself, and through this you will become more empowered to handle any situation that you may encounter. Your training will include, but is not limited to, all of the techniques that makes Choi Kwang Do the most effective martial art in the world in a safe, fun environment without the need to “test” for the next belt striving for a goal of “black belt”. This program takes the focus off of "belt rank" and puts the focus on the ability to reduce you chances of becoming a victim.
Ladies' Self-Defense Classes meet once per month (you do not need to be a Choi Kwang Do Student to attend - no commitment required, come when you can!)

Acworth Choi Kwang Do also teaches classes at Classical Conversations Kennesaw.
This separately run, but still part of ACKD, location stemmed from one of our homeschool families being part of Classical Conversations.
Classical Conversations supports homeschooling parents by cultivating the love of learning through a Christian worldview in fellowship with other families.
Mr. David Sayers is the primary instructor at this location and teaches classes two days per week. Classes are held in the evenings and are primarily for Classical Conversation students and their families.
Students who take at this location are also able to participate in all ACKD activities as they are still part of our ACKD family!
Discounts are available for homeschool students and families.
