Mrs. Chris Jackson has had the privilege of training in Choi Kwang Do for over a decade. In January 2008 she became a Certified Assistant Instructor and began helping teach under the supervision of her Master Instructor. In 2009 she tested for her 1st Degree Black Belt and became a Certified Chief Instructor. This is when she began teaching her own classes still being mentored by her Instructor. It was in 2010 that Mrs. Jackson felt called to do more that just teach classes. At his time, with the support of her family, she went through training and opened Acworth Choi Kwang Do! Mrs. Jackson is also a Choi Kwang Do Certified Examiner.
Since opening Acworth Choi Kwang Do, Mrs. Jackson has had the privilege and blessing to mentor over 500 students. Many of these students have achieved their goal of becoming a Black Belt and many still continue to train pushing towards their 2nd, 3rd, and even 4th degree Black Belts. Mrs. Jackson takes the time to have a personal relationship with each of her students. She chooses to be part of their lives not only while they are training, but also outside of the school and while participating in other activities. Seeing students perform in theatrical performances, compete in other sports, and earn awards are just a few blessings she has been able to share in with her students.
Mrs. Jackson has been blessed to be married to an amazing husband and to have given birth to two outstanding children. Over the years she has had the joy of homeschooling her two children all of the way to college. This has allowed her time with her family to enjoy things like vacationing in the Caribbean and SCUBA diving as a family, in addition to training in CKD together! Mrs. Jackson also enjoys studying the Bible, going on walks, playing games, and just spending time with those she loves. Supporting and helping others grow is just part of who Mrs. Jackson is.
Mrs. Jackson holds a B.S. Degree in Speech Pathology and Audiology and personally has both dyslexia and an auditory processing disorder. She has learned to overcome many challenges like these throughout her life. She knows, firsthand, what it is like to have trials that others may not have and loves to be able to come along side students and help them learn ways to also overcome their own difficulties.
Education is a life long process. Mrs. Jackson makes it a priority to attend as many CKD Instructor Trainings and Seminars, but also workshops and seminars based around personal self-defense so that she can continually be helping her students be able to be the best martial artist they can be and also be the safest that they can be.
Mrs. Jackson has a vision to give back to our community. She leads members of Acworth Choi Kwang Do in serving those around us through collections for the needy, leading a Crocheting / Knitting Ministry to serve those who may need to feel a special touch from God, and holding Ladies’ Self-Defense workshops and classes.
Acworth Choi Kwang Do is not just a job for Mrs. Jackson; it is an integral part of who she is and what God has called her to be.
